East Michigan Chapter
Air & Waste Management Association
History
The Chapter was established in 1975 by environmental professionals in southeast
Michigan to educate environmental professionals and students as well as
provide an open forum for the discussion of environmental issues. The Chapter
was chartered as the "Michigan Chapter Air Pollution Control Association".
In the twenty years to follow the international association modified its
name from the Air Pollution Control Association to the Air & Waste
Management Association and the West Michigan Chapter was chartered. Principal
activities of the East Michigan Chapter include sponsoring Michigan Science
Fairs, providing scholarships for Michigan environmental graduate students
and organizing meetings and technical conferences. The Chapter has tax
exempt status as described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue
Code.
